Anaheim University Celebrates Leadership Achievements of TESOL Graduates Anaheim University proudly announces the remarkable achievements of its alums in the field of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). Dr. Okon Effiong, a graduate of Anaheim University’s Master of Arts in TESOL program, has been named the 2025 President-Elect of the TESOL International Association. In addition, Dr. Linh Phung, a graduate of Anaheim University’s Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in TESOL program, has been appointed to the TESOL International Association Nominating Committee. Dr. Okon Effiong: TESOL International Association 2025 President-Elect Dr. Okon Effiong’s election as the 2025 President-Elect of the TESOL International Association reflects his outstanding contributions to the TESOL profession. With decades of experience in English language teaching, teacher training, and program development, Dr. Effiong has been a tireless advocate for advancing English language education globally. His leadership and expertise will guide TESOL International Association’s mission to support educators and promote excellence in English language teaching. In addition to his professional accomplishments including his current role as a lecturer at the University of Qatar, Dr. Effiong is the founder of the Africa English Language Teachers Association (Africa ELTA), established in 2016. Today, Africa ELTA connects over 25 affiliate countries across the continent and includes more than 5,000 members from 94 countries. Despite operating without corporate funding, Africa ELTA thrives as a hub for professional development, supporting teachers through collaboration and a shared vision. Dr. Effiong’s pioneering work with Africa ELTA underscores his commitment to empowering educators and fostering a global community of English language teachers. As an alumnus of Anaheim University’s MA TESOL program, Dr. Effiong attributes his success to the rigorous training and innovative methodologies he gained during his time at the University. Okon stated, “I can boldly say that this qualification was instrumental in helping me achieve key leadership roles, including my recent appointment as President-Elect of TESOL International Association—one of the most prestigious positions in our field.” Dr. Linh Phung: Nominating Committee Appointment Dr. Linh Phung’s appointment to the TESOL International Association Nominating Committee underscores her exceptional dedication to the TESOL community. With extensive experience in teaching, research, and curriculum development, Dr. Phung has been a driving force in shaping English language education policies and practices. Her role on the Nominating Committee will involve identifying and recommending future leaders who embody the values and vision of the TESOL International Association. Linh stated, “Since completing my degree, I have published two books, a research article, and a chapter in an academic book in collaboration with former professor Hayo Reinders. I have conducted research together with another EdD graduate, Dr. Bradford Lee. I have been selected as an English Language Specialist by the U.S. Department of State in 2023. I have been elected to serve the Nominating Committee of TESOL International Association with over 10,000 members worldwide. These achievements are a testament to the strong preparation and enduring relationships fostered by the program. Moreover, many of my peers have gone on to make significant contributions to the field of TESOL, conducting impactful research and advancing educational practices worldwide. Nissan Senior VP Speaks to Anaheim University Students
The Anaheim University Collaborative Learning Center hosted a highly engaging online event featuring Dr. Junichi Endo, Senior Vice President of Marketing & Sales for Japan-ASEAN at Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. Dr. Endo’s presentation, titled “Pathway to EV Democratization in Japan,” provided valuable insights into Nissan’s groundbreaking initiatives in the electric vehicle (EV) market in Japan. The event took place on Friday, October 18, 2024, at 6:30 PM Pacific Time (Saturday, October 19, 2024, at 10:30 AM Japan Time) via Zoom. Event Highlights: Dr. Endo shared his expertise and experiences, detailing Nissan’s innovative approach to the development and deployment of mini EVs. He highlighted the pivotal role these vehicles play in making EVs more accessible to the general public in Japan. Attendees gained an insider’s perspective on: The development and launch of Nissan’s mini EV, including the market-leading Nissan Sakura, which has secured a 41% market share in Japan. Nissan’s remarkable progress in EV penetration, achieving a 57% market share in the Japanese EV segment since April 2022. Insights from Dr. Endo’s leadership as President of NMKV, a joint venture between Nissan and Mitsubishi Motors, in fostering collaboration and innovation. About Dr. Junichi Endo: Dr. Junichi Endo is a distinguished executive with a storied career at Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. As Senior Vice President of Marketing & Sales for Japan-ASEAN, he has been instrumental in driving the company’s success in the EV market. His tenure as President of NMKV saw the successful development of mini EVs and strengthened the strategic alliance between Nissan and Mitsubishi Motors. A graduate of the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, where he earned his MBA, Dr. Endo is a member of Anaheim University’s Executive Advisory Board. AU Green MBA Grad Honored by DEAC
Anaheim University is proud to announce that Kashem Muttaqi, a distinguished graduate of the MBA in Global Sustainable Management program, has been selected among the DEAC Outstanding Graduates and Distinguished Alumni for 2024. Dr. Muttaqi is a recipient of the Anaheim University Ferrotec Akira Yamamura Scholarship.
