How our faculty teach

Nobody here records a lecture and walks away. Every program is built around live classes with the professor in the room, small enough that you speak in them.

Ed.D. and MA in TESOL

a weekly 90-minute live webcam class

Nine-week courses, a new one every 10 weeks. The Ed.D. adds two required four-day residential sessions, held once a year, plus a dissertation committee and a $2,000 research reserve fund.

DBA, MBA and Master of Entrepreneurship

two 90-minute live seminars per course

Faculty teach from Japan, Europe and the Americas, so seminar times are set to work across time zones.

MFA in Digital Filmmaking

a weekly 90-minute live class, often with an industry guest

Includes a one-week hands-on residential in Hollywood.

BA in Creative Communications

a 90-minute live class, the first hour led by the professor

The second half is worked through with classmates, so the cohort matters as much as the lecture.

Anaheim University’s Vision

Share It Forward

Anaheim University’s Vision is a commitment to Share It Forward and to make a positive impact on society and the natural environment through a series of initiatives. “Share It Forward” means doing your part to make the world a better place so that we can all share in the benefits for many generations to come. Share It Forward originated from the concept of “Pay It Forward”, which means to ask that a good turn be repaid by having it done to others instead. It was first described by Benjamin Franklin and became the subject of the 2000 film by the same name.

The tradition of Sharing It Forward was originally initiated by Anaheim University students who sought to develop a practice within the institution that would help new students get used to the online learning environment. Their proactive student involvement in developing student-centered systems, introducing supplemental learning resources, and offering tutorship and guidance to new and potential students, was done with the hope that those who receive the benefits would also Share It Forward.

The idea of Sharing It Forward had such an impact on our learning community that the University’s administration has embraced it. The philosophy has been incorporated into the mission of numerous University-led projects including our Vision in which we spread goodwill beyond our own institution to the world.

Through this commitment, Anaheim University strives to foster a culture of generosity, collaboration, and sustainability, ensuring that our students, faculty, and partners contribute to meaningful, lasting change. By continuously expanding our Share It Forward initiatives—whether through academic support, community engagement, environmental sustainability, or global outreach—we aim to empower individuals to create a ripple effect of positive action. In doing so, we reaffirm our dedication to making a difference, not only within our university but in the broader global community, inspiring future generations to embrace and uphold the spirit of Sharing It Forward.

It is the hope of Anaheim University to inspire students and academic leaders around the globe to join this initiative to change the world, one good turn at a time.

Live Webcam Classes

Online HD Webcam Classes in Real Time

Video Chat in HD with your professor and fellow students around the globe in real time

The Real-Time Online HD Webcam Classes offer these features:

  • Real-time high definition video communication with professors and fellow students residing around the world
  • Online classes recorded and archived
Classes are typically held on Friday nights (North/South America time) / Saturday mornings (Asia time). For each course in the MFA program, the Ed.D. and MA TESOL programs,  except for the Research Portfolio, students meet for 90 minutes a week, with the first 60 minutes being taught by the professor and the remaining 30 minutes being led by an elected Student Host. Students in the Business Administration, Sustainable Management , and Entrepreneurship programs, on the other hand, meet in real-time online webcam classes with their professors twice during each six-week course: once during the first and fourth weeks of the term. Professors lead powerpoint presentations and facilitate discussions amongst the students through video, audio and text chat in real time.

Communicate daily in your free time with your professor and classmates around the globe

The Online Discussion Forum is an electronic network facilitating active communication and interaction among all students enrolled in the same course. When you post a message to the Online Discussion Forum, the post is immediately available to all other students in the course, allowing students to discuss the week’s readings in their free time. A weekly Student Host directs students to perform certain tasks as outlined in the online course guide.

All discussions are facilitated by the course professor, who helps to guide the students. The Online Discussion Forum plays an integral part in AU’s online programs by facilitating the out-of-class interaction among students necessary for effective exchange of ideas. The Online Discussion Forum ensures that learning and interaction do not end when the class does.
