AU Receives Generous Contribution for 2025 Tuition Relief

Anaheim University is proud to announce that it has received a generous contribution from the family of the late Dr. Akira Yamamura, for whom the Anaheim University Akira Yamamura Ferrotec Research Institute is named. This contribution, given in an undisclosed amount, will go directly toward tuition relief for new students enrolling in 2025, reinforcing Anaheim University’s commitment to accessibility and academic excellence. Dr. Akira Yamamura was a visionary entrepreneur and esteemed leader in the global technology sector. In 1980, he co-founded Ferrotec with two colleagues while serving as the president of the Japanese subsidiary of Ferrofluidics Corporation. Under his leadership, Ferrotec expanded significantly, culminating in a management buyout in 1987 and the acquisition of its former parent company in 1999. Dr. Yamamura’s pioneering work propelled Ferrotec to become one of the most influential companies in the electronics industry, with annual revenue reaching approximately $680 million and a workforce of over 5,400 employees across 27 subsidiaries worldwide. Ferrotec’s technological advancements have had a profound impact on semiconductor equipment, single crystal silicon ingot growing, flat panel display (FPD) equipment, and thin-film photovoltaic applications. The company’s origins in ferrofluid magnetic liquid and Ferrofluidic® sealing products have since evolved into a diverse portfolio of advanced material, component, and assembly solutions that serve industries around the world. In recognition of his exceptional leadership and contributions to the industry, Dr. Yamamura was ranked #24 in Ernst & Young’s “World Entrepreneur of the Year” awards in 2012.
