School of Ed. Dean David Nunan World’s Leading Textbook Author

Anaheim University Graduate School of Education Dean, Dr. David Nunan’s textbook sales have now exceeded 2.5 billion, making David Nunan the world’s leading textbook author. David Nunan’s “Go For It!” series, published in cooperation between Cengage Learning and the People’s Education Press (PEP), was selected and adapted as a basal textbook series for middle schools throughout China. The latest TESOL textbook by David Nunan is published by Anaheim University Press. David Nunan’s latest book, “Teaching English to Young Learners”, which is focused on how to teach English to non-native English speakers aged 3 to 15, is published by Anaheim University Press. The textbook is the core textbook for Anaheim University’s Certificate in Teaching English to Young Learners program, developed and overseen by Dr. Nunan. David Nunan, Vice-President for Academic Affairs at Anaheim University, is the founding and current Dean of the Anaheim University Graduate School of Education and Director of the Anaheim University David Nunan TESOL Institute. Dr. Nunan is a distinbuished linguist and best-selling author of English Language Teaching textbooks for Cambridge University Press, Oxford University Press, and Thomson Learning. He has been involved in the teaching of graduate programs for such prestigious institutions as the University of Hong Kong, Columbia University, the University of Hawaii, Monterey Institute for International Studies, and many more. In 2002 Dr. Nunan received a congressional citation from the United States House of Representatives for his services to English language education through his pioneering work in online education at Anaheim University. In 2003 he was ranked the 7th most influential Australian in Asia by Business Review Weekly, and in 2005 he was named one of the top “50 Australians who Matter”. David Nunan was invited by the Australian Prime Minister to attend a summit in Sydney Australia in December 1996 as one of the Leading 100 Global Australians. Dr. Nunan is Past President of the TESOL International Association, the world’s largest language teaching organization. Dr. Nunan is joined in the Graduate School of Education by a recognized team of linguists, which includes four other past presidents of the TESOL International Association: Dr. Kathleen Bailey, Dr. Denise Murray, Dr. MaryAnn Christison and Dr. Jun Liu.

AU TESOL Professor Rod Ellis New Doctoral Program Designer

Dr. Rod Ellis has served as a Full Professor of TESOL and former Dean of the Graduate School of Education since 1998. Rod Ellis is a recognized author of TESOL and Applied Linguistics texts, and recipient of Oxford University Press’s Award for the Best Book in Applied Linguistics. Rod Ellis is working with AU’s distinguished TESOL faculty to develop a Doctorate of Education in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). Dr. Rod Ellis is a distinguished linguist who received his Doctorate from the University of London and his Master of Education from the University of Bristol. A former professor at Temple University both in Japan and the US, Prof. Ellis has served as the Director of the Institute of Language Teaching and Learning at the University of Auckland and has taught in numerous positions in England, Japan, the US, Zambia and New Zealand. Dr. Ellis, who is known as an expert in Second Language Acquisition, is author of numerous student and teacher-training textbooks for Prentice Hall and Oxford University Press. Prof. Ellis’s textbooks on Second Language Acquisition and Grammar are core textbooks in TESOL and Linguistics programs around the world.
