Pistikopoulos and Faisal I. Khan. Dr. Zaman Sajid is a distinguished graduate of the Anaheim University’s Online MBA in Global Sustainable Management program. Dr. Sajid’s latest work contributes to the evolving landscape of process safety, sustainability, and technological advancements in the chemical and process industries.
A Career Dedicated to Safety and Sustainability
Dr. Sajid’s professional journey is a testament to his dedication to improving safety and sustainability in the chemical and process engineering fields. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Process Engineering from Memorial University, Canada, a Master of Science (MS) in Chemical and Process Engineering from the University of Strathclyde, UK, and an MBA in Sustainable Management from Anaheim University, USA.
Currently serving as a senior research engineer at the Mary Kay O’Connor Process Safety Center and a visiting faculty member at Texas A&M University, Dr. Sajid has spent over a decade leveraging data analysis, artificial intelligence (AI), and risk-based approaches to enhance the safety, sustainability, and security of chemical processing plants in the U.S. His research addresses pressing challenges in renewable energy, bio-manufacturing, and bioprocessing technologies, contributing to economic and environmental progress.
Contributing to Industry Research and Innovation
Dr. Sajid is actively involved in cutting-edge research, frequently publishing in leading peer-reviewed journals and presenting at international conferences. He plays a crucial role in managing the $52 million federally funded Ocean Energy Safety Institute (OESI), which aims to improve safety measures in the U.S. offshore energy sector.
His commitment to scientific excellence extends to his participation in peer review for esteemed journals such as Applied Energy, Computers & Chemical Engineering, Energies, International Journal of Sustainable Engineering, and Sustainability. Additionally, he is a member of the U.S. AI Safety Institute Consortium and serves on the editorial boards of Frontiers in Environmental Engineering and ChemEngineering.
