Luke Plonsky is Senior Program Consultant for the Anaheim University Graduate School of Education. He has authored over 100 publications, including journal articles, book chapters, and books. A central focus of his scholarship has been enhancing the methodological rigor of the field, with contributions spanning sampling strategies, replication, experimental design, statistical analysis, reporting standards, open science, meta-analysis, bibliometrics, and research ethics. Dr. Plonsky currently serves as Editor of Studies in Second Language Acquisition, Managing Editor of Foreign Language Annals, and is the Founder and General Editor of Applied Linguistics Press. In addition to his role as a Professor of Applied Linguistics at Northern Arizona University, where he teaches courses in second language acquisition and research methodology, he holds an honorary professorship at the International Education Institute of the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. His previous academic appointments include faculty positions at Georgetown University and University College London, and he was a Fulbright Scholar in Spain in 2021. He has delivered lectures in numerous countries, including China, Japan, the Netherlands, Poland, Puerto Rico, and Spain. Dr. Plonsky earned his PhD in Second Language Studies from Michigan State University in 2011.
