Seoul Residential From Thursday Oct. 13 to Sunday Oct. 16, 2011 Anaheim University, in collaboration with Cyber Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (CUFS) held a 4-day Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) residential session in Seoul, Korea. Students and faculty from around the world gathered for 4-days on the campus of Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS) as they discuss topics related to current issues and research methods in TESOL. A TESOL Seminar open to the public entitled "Standard language / Language Standards" was held on Thursday, Oct. 13th from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm.

davidnunancsuf2011redshirtimg_0529s.jpgDr. David Nunan who serves Dean of the Graduate school of Education and as Vice-President for Academic Affairs at Anaheim University is a world-renowned linguist and best-selling author of English Language Teaching textbooks for Cambridge University Press, Oxford University Press, and Cengage Learning. His ELT textbook series "Go For It" is the largest selling textbook series in the world with total sales exceeding 2.5 billion. In 2000, David Nunan served as President of TESOL, the world's largest language teaching association, and was the first person to serve as President from outside North America. David Nunan has been involved in the teaching of graduate programs for such prestigious institutions as Columbia University, the University of Hawaii, Monterey Institute for International Studies, University of Hong Kong, and many more. In 2002 Dr. Nunan received a congressional citation from the United States House of Representatives for his services to English language education through his pioneering work in online education at Anaheim University. In 2003 he was ranked the 7th most influential Australian in Asia by Business Review Weekly, and in 2005 he was named one of the top "50 Australians who Matter". David Nunan was invited by the Australian Prime Minister to attend a summit in Sydney Australia in December 1996 as one of the Leading 100 Global Australians.


Ken BeattyDr. Ken Beatty taught the last 15 years at universities in the UAE, the People's Republic of China and Hong Kong. Dr. Beatty is the author/co-author of more than 100 textbooks for Pearson, Longman, Oxford University Press, Thomson, Heinle & Heinle and Hong Kong Educational Press include English as a Second Language textbooks and readers from the primary through university levels. Although most of these focus on various aspects of English as a Second Language, he also writes and reviews on the topic of CALL (Computer-Assisted Language Learning). He is involved in electronic media and was Academic Advisor to Hong Kong's Educational Television from 1998 to 2004. Dr. Beatty holds a PhD in Curriculum Studies from the University of Hong Kong.


Andy CurtisDr. Andy Curtis received his Ph.D. in International Education and MA in Applied Linguistics from the University of York, a Postgraduate Diploma in TESOL from Sheffield Hallam University and his teaching degree (BEd) from Sunderland University. Dr. Curtis has taught at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Queens University in Canada, and the School for International Training in the U.S.. As an invited speaker, workshop facilitator and consultant, Dr. Curtis has given approximately 100 presentations and worked with 10,000 language teachers in more than 20 countries: Brazil, Canada, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Hong Kong, Hungary, Indonesia, Japan, Korea (South), Malaysia, Mexico, Panama,Peru, Poland, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and the United States of America. As a teacher, since 1989, Dr Curtis has designed, presented, evaluated and developed 50 tertiary level courses for 20 educational centres. In 1999, Dr Curtis received the TESOL Leadership Mentoring Award from the TESOL Association where he is currently an elected member of the TESOL Board of Directors, and during his ten years as a member of the Association he has served on TESOL’s Standing Committee on Rules and Resolutions, on the Nominations Committee, on two Research Agenda Task Forces, and is currently serving on the TESOL Task Force on Convention Long Range Planning.
